I can only assume that you’ve come to this page to find out about the face behind the webpage, so let me tell you a little bit.
Let’s get straight in to it… shall we?
Hi, my name is Katey. Nice to meet you.
I am a 31 year old woman hailing from Yorkshire, England. All my life friends and family have been bamboozled about where I get my looks from, and nothing’s changed yet, I’m pretty much 100% Yorkshire dating back to the 1600s, (with the odd Lancashire but we don’t mention that).
I have a BA(Hons) degree in Writing Fashion and Culture from Southampton Solent University where I got a 2:1. Modules included blogging, journalism law, historical and more. My dissertation was photography based, rather than essay, for this I got a first.
I’ve always enjoyed photography and editing, anything creative basically! I also worked as a professional model for many years, specialising mainly in hair work, I’ve worked for many brands and been in and on the cover of many magazine.
As far as travel goes though, I was a late bloomer. It is only in the last 4 years or so that I broke out of the typical week with a tour operator and discovered my love for travel.
As time passed, my passion for capturing my adventures escalated. My equipment upgraded. My skills got stronger, and I saw real potential to live the life I want, continuously creating as I go.
So now, I prepare in the next few months to set out on my solo travel adventure. Full timing it starting off in South East Asia.
My Chronic Illness
I’m a UK resident, though quite frankly, for half of my month I could be anywhere, as all I get to see is the bed. That said, I love to travel and explore the world.
I love to learn about different cultures, countries and belief systems, and apply what I learn to my own practices and life. It is one thing that I refuse to give up on, but it has taken some adaptation.
In December 2018, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis, and it has had an incomprehensible effect on my life. I lost my job, I live in chronic pain, and like many illnesses, it’s not without with its flareups. I’m trying not to let my illness manage me, and instead, work on me managing it. I feel like I’m getting there!
I am a blue badge holder, my mobility varies from walking ok in short distances to not being able to physically stand up. So adaptions to follow my passion have been made and continue to do so as I and it develop.
I started this blog with the intentiion of recording my adventures, to help others see the world and answer any questions that may be asked of me.
With my Endo in the mix, it encouraged me to help others see that travel is possible with chronic illness and disability. Like other things we have to undertake, you just need to make some adaptions.
So, I aim to cover off the usual travel inspiration topics, give genuine reviews on the places I’ve been and the services and products I’ve used, provide tips and advice based on my experience and much more.
And as always, if there is anything you want to see, know about, or you want to contribute and help others, just get in touch at the bottom of this page or via the contact page. If you want to work with me, see how here.
